How do I reset a spa pump? ›

Turn the pump unit off and unplug from the socket (leave for 10 seconds). Plug the pump unit back in and turn it back on. Press the thermal reset button using a pencil or screwdriver. Once done, press the heater button.

You may find that your hot tub won't heat past 99 degrees and perhaps only heats up to 84 degrees. This is often due to the filter becoming clogged and dirty, making it necessary to replace the part. The filter is fairly easy to remove and clean out if it has a reusable design.

Hot tub filter cartridges naturally degrade over time, the woven fibers separate and they are unable to filter the smaller particles. Or, filter cartridges become coated with oily and crusty deposits which are hard to remove, causing them to clog quickly. Replace your spa filter every 12-24 months.

If it immediately trips even though nothing is attached to it, your GFCI is most likely faulty and will need to be replaced. There may be an issue with one of your hot tub's components, such as the heater, the pumps, or the entertainment system.

If your hot tub isn't heating properly, there are a number of things that could be at play. Whether it's an inefficient, ill-fitting hot tub cover, a malfunctioning hot tub heater, power issues, faulty parts, or even poor insulation, it's important to identify the root of the problem.

If your spa is not properly insulated, the water can cool down quickly, especially in cooler weather. In extreme cases, the water can get cold enough to freeze, which can damage the spa and plumbing. That's why it's important to use a cover and add insulation to your spa if possible.

If you have a powerful heater, it will take less time for the hot tub's water to go from cold water to the ideal temperature. Typically, water heats up by five to ten degrees Fahrenheit in an hour. Heating your hot tub to the desired temperature in the 100 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit range can take three to eight hours.

1. Water Chemistry Maintenance. When you talk about hot tub problems, water chemistry maintenance tops the list as the most frequent issue. This is the most common hot tub problem and arguably the easiest to fix!

First, check and test your heating element. If your heating element is in good shape, it should be between 4.0 and 5.5kw. Additionally, it should draw at least 15-25 amps at 240v, and have 9-12 ohms of resistance. You can test your heater with any multi-meter and amp meter, or with an Ohm meter.

Running the heater without enough water in the hot tub, clogs, faulty circulation, and chemical deposits are the most common reasons. To fix the issue, it might be possible to have only the heating element replaced, depending on your heater type. With some models, though, the entire heater will require replacement.

When the spa is refilled, some of that air may become trapped and act as a plug that keeps water from moving through the hot tub's piping. If you turn on your spa, hear the pumps running, but see no water flowing from the jets, the most likely culprit is an airlock.

Next, push the test button on the GFCI and close the service door. The product should not operate. Now open the service door, push the reset button on the GFCI and close the service door. The product should now operate normally.

Low water flow from hot tub pumps is usually an indicator that you need to replace your spa's filter. It can also be a sign of a clog, air in the line, blocked flow, or a problem with the pump.
