What is the recycling answer? ›

Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community, the economy and the environment.

Orem residents are encouraged to recycle clean film plastics including loose grocery bags, newspaper bags, dry cleaning bags, plastic wrap packaging (e.g., from around a case of plastic bottles), food storage bags and mailing packaging (envelopes, bubble wrap).

What is a Recycle Bin? The Recycle Bin is a default folder found in computers running the Windows operating system. It acts as a temporary storage location for files and folders that have been deleted from the computer by mistake or purposefully.

Paper towels, napkins, paper plates, and tissues are all paper products but unlike most paper items, they cannot be recycled. Just like pizza boxes, these items come in contact with food wastes, greases, and possibly bodily fluids, and are hard to "clean" during the recycling process.

Well-known non-recyclable plastics include cling film, blister packaging, plastic-coated wrapping paper, composite plastic, bioplastics, and polycarbonate. Thermoset plastics contain polymers that form irreversible chemical bonds and cannot be recycled.

Types of paper that are not recyclable are coated and treated paper, paper with food waste, juice and cereal boxes, paper cups, paper towels, and paper or magazine laminated with plastic.
